Saints: A Year In Faith And Art
A unique volume of its kind, illustrating for the first time all the saints of the liturgical calendar and popular tradition. 380 images, ranging from world-famous works of art to more recent depictions, present outstanding figures from the history of the Church. Each brief entry presents the saint’s historical background, with the etymology of the saint’s name, the saint’s traditional iconography, and a list of the occupations, countries, and cities under the saint’s patronage.
This richly illustrated text portrays more than 375 Catholic saints, arranged by the days of the year on which each beatified figure is honoured. Up to three saints have been chosen for each day of the year, with a brief accompanying description of each.
